From animated films and comics to digital books, video games, and visual effects, Cohliens stand out year after year across all these creative fields. Here is a non-exhaustive list of recent releases, awards, and achievements by our faculty members, students, and alumni.

Animation & Series 

  • Flow, animated feature film with 3D animator Élodie D’Ambrosio, won both the César and the Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2025. 
  • Sirocco and the Kingdom of the Winds (Sacrebleu), directed by alumnus and faculty member Benoît Chieux, co-written by alumnus and faculty member Alain Gagnol. Audience Award, Annecy Festival 2023. 
  • Between Two Sisters (Folimage), by alumni Anne-Sophie Gousset and Clément Céard. Best Short Film for Young Audiences, Annecy Festival 2023. 
  • Pompon Bear, children’s series directed by alumnus Matthieu Gaillard, produced by Supamonks for France TV. Graphic design: Matthieu Gaillard. Storyboard: alumnus Cédric Babouche. Selected at Annecy 2021. 
  • Make it Soul, short film by alumnus and teacher Jean-Charles Mbotti Malolo. César nomination, 2020. 
  • I Lost My Body, by Jérémy Clapin. 14 Cohliens contributed to this animated feature (Xilam): Quentin Reubrecht (storyboard), Jeoffrey Magellan & Fursy Teyssier (art directors), Tévy Dubray & Hippolyte Jacquet (background artists), Claire Charvolin, Lou Delage, Anne Kraehn, Elie Martens, Eloïse Rauzier, Lison Sabiols (animators), Léo Zwaenepoël (3D animator), Maryline Collet & Pauline Meulien (student interns). Grand Prize at Cannes Critics’ Week, César for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Music 2020, Oscar nomination. 
  • Klaus, by Sergio Pablos. 7 Cohliens contributed (Sergio Pablos Animation): Solène Chevaleyre & Kevin Le Moigne (layout & backgrounds), Gaspard Sumeire & Mathilde Vachet (animators), Lucie Julliat (cleanup), Samuel Smith (color key), Timothée Berruet (lighting). BAFTA for Best Animated Feature 2020, Oscar nomination. 
  • Melting Heart Cake, short by Benoît Chieux. Awards at Stuttgart Trickfilm 2020, Cinanima 2019 (Portugal), BIAF 2019 (South Korea), and Animatou 2019 (Switzerland). 
  • Midnight Garden, short by Benoît Chieux. César nomination 2019. 
  • My Life as a Zucchini, by alumnus Claude Barras. Cristal and Audience Award, Annecy 2016; Valois de diamant, Angoulême 2016; two Césars 2017; Oscar nomination 2017. 
  • Peripheria, short by alumnus David Coquard-Dassault. Audience Award & André-Martin Award, Annecy 2016. César nomination 2017. 

Visual Effects 

  • Blade Runner 2049, by Denis Villeneuve. Christophe Archinet (alumnus and faculty), lighting artist, contributed 34 shots. Won 2018 Oscar for Best Visual Effects with Framestore. 
  • Doctor Strange, by Scott Derrickson. Stéphane Ceretti (alumnus), VFX supervisor at Marvel Studios. Oscar nomination 2017. Also nominated for Guardians of the Galaxy (2015). 
  • The Jungle Book, by Jon Favreau. Sydney Kombo (alumnus and former faculty), animation supervisor with Weta Digital. Won 2017 Oscar for Best Visual Effects.

Graduation Films 

  • Behind the Door, by Jiyoung Yoon (class of 2023). Awards at Coliffee 2024 (Rome, Italy) and Animasyros 2024 (Greece). 
  • Your Attention Please, by Colette Natrella (2023). Benshi Public Award, Acid’animé Paris 2024; Chaniartoon 2024 (Greece); Special Mention at Dotimages 2024. 
  • La Gabardine, by Kimon Papadatos (2023). Best Animated Film by Greek Director, Animasyros 2024. 
  • Mom Doesn’t Like Monsters, by Iana Sanson (2023). Honorable mention, Court’échelle 2024 (Paris).

Video Games 

  • Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Ubisoft Montpellier. Winner of multiple 2025 Pégases Awards: Best Game, Game Design, Sound Design, and Accessibility. Contributions by alumni Pierre Bertin (concept artist) and Anaïs Dusautois (animation supervisor). 
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, awarded Best Technological Innovation at the 2025 Pégases. Contributions by Thierry Puginier (senior animator), Florian Thomasset (3D environment artist), and Nicolas Bessonat (3D animator – former intern). 
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator (Asobo). 3 Pégases 2021 including Game of the Year. Same team as above. 
  • Tell Me Why (DontNod), published by Xbox Game Studios. Senior Character Artist: Pascal Duriaux (alumnus). 2021 Pégases Awards: Narrative Excellence & Beyond the Game. 
  • The Crew 2 (Ubisoft Ivory Tower). Racing game developed in Lyon. 10 alumni involved, including art directors Loïc Barrier, Jean-Christophe Blanc, David Guillaume, and concept artists Baptiste Forey, Mathieu Reydellet. 2018 Ping Award for Best Sports Game. 
  • Homo Machina (Darjeeling), mobile game by ARTE. Art direction: Olivier Bonhomme (alumnus). Best Mobile App/Game, Game Connection 2018 (San Francisco); Ping Award for Best Mobile Game (Paris). 
  • Detroit: Become Human (Quantic Dream). Featuring 5 alumni: Pascal Duriaux (character artist), Elodie Marze, Antoine Boutin, Clément Crocq, and Pierre Bertin (concept artists). 2018 Ping Award for Best Graphics. 
  • Stained, student project by Delphin Casado, Mélanie Constantin, Adrien Jeannerod & Clément Ribeyre-Soret. 2018 Ping Award for Best Graphics (Student Category). 

Illustration 

  • Protéger le Blibulle, by Florian Pigé (alumnus and faculty) & Vincent Mondiot (Actes Sud). Prix des P’tits Loups 2024. 
  • Bulle d’été (HongFei Cultures), by Florian Pigé (alumnus). Prix Landerneau 2020 for Best Children’s Book. 
  • Massamba, Eiffel Tower Vendor (Gallimard Jeunesse), by Béatrice Fontanel & Alexandra Huard (alumna and faculty). Prix Paris se Livre 2019.
