For non-French speaking international students. Preparatory training in 1 year to acquire the basics of French while practicing drawing.

Program overview

The objective of Drawing FLE Preparatory Classes is for students to familiarize themselves with the French language, while developing their artistic and cultural skills. Upon completion of this one-year educational program, students should be able to integrate the main training program at Emile Cohl School or to apply to any other art school.

The program of one school year, form late September to early June, contains :

  • 350 hours of personalized French classes
  • 250 hours of drawing classes
  • 250 hours of additional courses

      7.080 euros (+ 1,500 euros annual management fees)
      850 hours of lessons per year including 350 hours of FLE

Admission

  • Admission requirements

    Applicants must:

    • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent by the time of final enrollment

    • Have an A1–A2 level in French

    • Have some initial experience in drawing and painting

  • How to apply?

    Admission to the Preparatory Drawing Program (FLE) is based on an application file, submitted between January and June.
    Applicants may send their file either directly to inscriptionsfle@cohl.fr, or via the Toucan platform on CampusArt.

    The application file must include:

    • An artistic portfolio

    • A motivation letter in French

    • A copy of your passport

    • A copy of your high school diploma (or equivalent)

    After the file has been reviewed, eligible candidates will be contacted by email or through Toucan to finalize their enrollment.

  • Que montrer dans le dossier artistique ?

    The artistic portfolio must include observation drawings from real life.
    Create 4 boards, each composed of 2 to 3 drawings:

    • Board 1: Views of buildings (interior or exterior)

    • Board 2: Full-body figure drawings from a live model

    • Board 3: Drawings of tools, fruits, or vegetables

    • Board 4: Observation drawings — subject of your choice

    Please indicate on each board:

    • The date of the drawing

    • The techniques used

    • The time taken to complete the drawing
